Po niezłych przygodach na lotnisku w Ho Chi Minh, w końcu dolecieliśmy do Hue. Od razu jak wyszłam z lotniska widać było różnicę.Na pierwszy rzut oka nie ma żadnych większych budynków tylko sama zieleń i palmy.

Co najbardziej doceniam będąc tutaj? Cudowne, świeżo wyciskane soki i smoothies. Jeden kosztuje od 1,5zł (!!!) do ok. 3,5 zł. O niektórych owocach nie miałam nawet pojęcia. Właśnie wypiłam sobie sok z kokosa + świeże plastry. Coś niesamowitego...
Kawa jest również tutaj dość dziwnym obyczajem, ponieważ przynosi się ją podczas parzenia. Na dole jest trochę skondensowanego mleka (jeżeli chcemy kawę z mlekiem) i z parzenia wychodzi takie małe espresso. Później dodaje się lód, jeżeli chcemy kawę mrożoną. Przepyszne.

Wszyscy chronią swoją skórę jak najlepiej potrafią. Nie straszne im są niesamowicie wysokie temperatury i słońce będąc całkowicie zakrytym. Prawie każdy, najczęściej gdy jedzie na skuterze, zakłada rękawiczki, maskę, czapkę, długi rękaw i długie spodnie, a czasami nawet skarpetki do sandałów lub japonek. Robią to po to, żeby się nie opalić. Wiele osób mówi nam, że powinniśmy chronić się przed słońcem, żeby się nie opalić i bardzo nam zazdroszczą tego, że jesteśmy biali. Dosłownie!

Oczywiście głównym środkiem transportu są skutery, które już w pierwszy dzień wynajęliśmy na całe 5 tygodni. Kosztowało to nas ok. 75 zł. Był to mój pierwszy raz na skuterze i myślę, że poradziłam sobie dość dobrze. Jenna jak widać boi się ze mną jeździć, a dla mnie największym stresem jest ruch uliczny. Sama jazda jest bardzo przyjemna, ale niestety nie panują tutaj raczej żadne zasady ruchu drogowego.

Był to również mój pierwszy raz jedząc tofu. Zawsze kojarzyło mi się z serialami, w których wszyscy tego nie lubią i nabijają się z wegetarian. Muszę przyznać, że jest bardzo dobre i jestem w wielkim szoku, że można je spotkać w tylu odsłonach. Najlepsze robi nasza kucharka, podsmażane w sosie. Mniam!

Ogólnie to jest pięknie, jednak wiadomo, że kraj ten dopiero się rozwija. Widać wiele straganów, jest dość brudno, ale najlepsze jedzenie można dostać właśnie w takich małych restauracjach na ulicy.
After some unpleasant adventures at the Ho Chi Minh airport we finally got to Hue. When you first walk out of the airport, you can immediately see the difference. There landscape is much less urban and you can see a lot of palm trees and beautiful sceneries while driving to the centre.
What is one the things that I value the most here? Delicious, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. For one you will pay from $0.5 to $1. I have never heard about some of the fruits that people eat here on daily basis. Actually, I have just had a coconut juice and some fresh pieces.
Coffee is also a bit of a peculiar custom here because it is brewed in front of you in a glass. At the bottom of it there is a bit of condensed milk (if we want it that way) and after brewing, it seems like an espresso. Finally you add some ice cubes if you want ice coffee. Exquisite.
Everyone protects their skin as much as possible. Vietnamese people are not afraid of high temperatures and sun while having gloves, a hat, a mask, long trousers, sometimes socks with flip-flops, long sleeve shirts. They go through all that trouble so their skin stays as white as possible. A lot of people tell us that we should cover our skin in order not to get tanned and they are jelaous of the fact that we are while.
Of course the main mean of transport here is motorbike which we have rented on the first day for the whole duration of the programme which is 5 weeks. It cost us as little as $25. It was my first time driving a motorbike and I think it went pretty well. As you can see in the picture, Jenna is still a little bit afraid to drive with me and prefer someone with a little bit more experience but I'm not surprised since I am also cautious about driving during rush hour. Driving itself if pretty easy but there are no rules when it comes to traffic.
It was always my first time eating tofu. I have always associated tofu with vegetarians and TV series when they make fun of it how disgusting it is, don't know why. I must admit that I like it a lot and now I eat it almost every day. You can actually eat it both sweet or fried or it could be made in milions of ways. The best I have had so far was the fried one with some sauce.
To sum up, it is so beautiful here. However, you can see that the country is still in progress of development. There are a lot of street shops and it is not very clean. Nevertheless, the best food you can find in those little bars on the street.
